Neutrinos are among the most fascinating particles in physics - extremely difficult to measure and yet crucial to expanding our understanding of the universe. This is precisely where the large-scale project KATRIN on Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) on: As the „most accurate balance in the world“, KATRIN sets new standards in the high-precision determination of neutrino mass. An interim result of 0.45 eV/c² (corresponds to approx. 8 × 10-³⁷ kilogram) impressively underlines the ambition of this experiment.
With TRISTAN now follows the high-tech upgrade of KATRIN: The aim is to penetrate even deeper into the neutrino world and search for new signals - including indications of heavy sterile neutrinos.
Why electronics are crucial here
Such experiments not only depend on excellent research, but also on electronics that work absolutely reliably under extreme conditions: maximum precision, stable signal quality, high data rates - and in some cases in the strong magnetic field.
What's inside the highly specialized printed circuit boards
KATRIN/TRISTAN uses highly specialized printed circuit boards that are designed precisely to meet these requirements:
- Impedance-controlled for high speeds and transfer rates
- Requirement for power integrity
- Use in a strong magnetic field
Our contribution to KSG
We are pleased that those responsible for the follow-up project TRISTAN are also Reliable technologies from KSG set. We are proud to be able to support such scientific projects - and we are already looking forward to the next results from Karlsruhe.
