Touchscreens, i.e. touch-sensitive screens, offer numerous possibilities for convenient operation of devices. However, there is no touch technology that can be used universally for every application. Each technology has advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to know and understand the key technologies in order to implement an optimal solution.
Touchscreens
Resistive touchscreens enable precise positioning with stylus pen and gloves
Capacitive keyboards are very resistant to environmental influences and are highly insensitive to temperatures
Inductive touchscreens are mainly used in graphics systems
Capacitive touchscreens
Capacitive keyboards are characterized by an extremely robust and visually appealing design. In contrast to resistive touchscreens, a capacitive touch also works without pressure. You only need to touch it to interact. The surface can be made of glass or plastic. Individual buttons, but also sliders and dials are available for operation. Keyboards with a glass surface can be produced in many different versions.
On the one hand, the choice of glass is paramount:
Clear
Optically anti-reflective
Chemically anti-reflective
Tempered glass
Thickness of the glass
Secondly, the processing must be selected:
Tailored only
Edges hemmed or polished
Additional milling for openings or surface grinding for the fingertip guide are possible
Your advantages:
Robust (vandal-proof)
Very long service life
Visually appealing
Many display options
Glass or plastic surface
Easy cleaning
Good readability, reflections due to bonding are minimal
Resistive touchscreens
Resistive touchscreens work via pressure gestures. It does not matter whether you press with your whole finger, your fingernail or a pen. If you press the two layers under DC voltage together, you can measure the voltage at the edges of the upper polyester film and thus obtain the position of the pressure point. All properties at a glance:
Robust
Variations through display
Unrestricted glove operation
Universal stylus
Sealing depending on installation
Poorer readability than with capacitive touch, reflections due to foil distance are greater
Certainly smarter together.
